Local Volunteer Org Gives Books to the incarcerated

(Rocky Hil, CT) For the past 6 years the CT Prison Book Connection has provided free reading materials to those locked behind bars. The mission statement from their Facebook page reads:

(1) Respond to the needs of our imprisoned sisters and brothers.
(2) Aid those behind bars in attaining personal growth and educational goals.
(3) Contribute to reduced recidivism rates and ease prisoners’ reintegration into outside society, upon their release.

Book giving evolved from founding members’ letter writing. Noticing a need, they turned to community. Many prisoners don’t have access to books. Today there are 20 state collectives that operate.

“I try to think of what Dr. Cornel West says ‘Justice is what love looks like in public’ and that is our operating belief. bring some measure of justice to each of these peoples lives” -Nicole Beaucar

  1. Awesome write-up. I’m a normal visitor of your website and appreciate you taking the time to maintain the excellent site. I’ll be a regular visitor for a really long time.

  2. Good blog! I really love how it is easy on my eyes and the data are well written. I’m wondering how I might be notified whenever a new post has been made. I have subscribed to your RSS feed which must do the trick! Have a nice day!

  3. I know this if off topic but I’m looking into starting my own weblog and was curious what all is needed to get set up? I’m assuming having a blog like yours would cost a pretty penny? I’m not very web smart so I’m not 100 positive. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

  4. When I originally commented I clicked the “Notify me when new comments are added” checkbox and now each time
a comment is added I get four emails with the same comment.

Is there any way you can remove people from that service? Thanks a lot!
